Is a thermic fluid heater the same as a thermal oil heater?

Yes. Thermic fluid heater, thermal fluid heater, thermal oil boiler and hot oil heater describe the same equipment. Wilford builds it as the YDW electric heater (24–1440 kW) and the YY(Q)W oil/gas fired heater (600–6000 kW).

Why choose thermal oil instead of steam?

Thermal oil circulates in a closed loop and reaches up to 350 ℃ at low working pressure; steam would need a much higher pressure for the same temperature. There is no water treatment and no condensate return.
